Happy, Healthy January

After the indulgences of Christmas and Hogmanay, many of us strive to improve our health and well being during January, by setting new year’s resolutions. And here at Ness Walk, our Torrish Restaurant has been supporting two healthy January campaigns, Veganuary and Dry January.

Veganuary encourages people to go vegan in January, while Dry January encourages us to go without alcohol. Along with the many ethical and moral reasons participants may have, there are also a great deal of health benefits.

Hundreds of thousands of people are changing what they eat and drink throughout January and beyond, and we have taken inspiration for our first ever Torrish Supper Club.

Veganuary/Dry January Supper Club

Torrish Supper Club is a new and exciting dining event, which promises to take your taste buds on a culinary adventure. An occasion where like-minded foodies can get together and enjoy unique concepts and flavours from around the world.

Our very first supper club will take place this month, on 23rd January, with a vegan and alcohol-free theme. Working closely with Red Box Tea, we will create a sumptuous 4-course vegan tasting menu, complemented by matching teas. Hosted by our very own restaurant manager, who will provide insight into veganism and its unique benefits. What’s more, Ella from Left Coast Culture will be joining us and her incredible vegan cheeses will feature on the menu.

Our tips for eating and drinking healthily this January

Whether you’re planning on going alcohol-free, vegetarian, vegan, or simply eating more healthily, it’s important to have a balanced diet. See the NHS website for help and guidance on how to eat well.

  • Eat regularly, choosing a wide variety of foods from the 5 main food groups
  • Get your 5-a-day by eating at least 5 portions of fruit or vegetables every day.
  • Drink plenty of water, at least 6 to 8 glasses a day.
  • Cut down on foods and drinks that are high in fat, salt and sugar.

Supporting Your Dietary Requirements

Torrish Restaurant endeavours to support your dietary requirements all year round, not just during Veganuary and Dry January! We always have vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options available, but please let us know in advance if you have other requirements and it will be our pleasure to help.

We wish you a happy and healthy new year!
