Scotland Whisky News!

Glen Ord Distillery has opened its new visitor centre to the public! This is all part of drinks giant Diageo’s £185 million investment in Scottish whisky attractions, which is set to give the local tourism industry a huge boost. Glen Ord is one of our local distilleries, located just 15 miles from Ness Walk Hotel, so we’re excited to take a look inside…

Showcasing The Singleton of Glen Ord

The Glen Ord Distillery is one of three distilleries which produces The Singleton whisky. The new visitor centre will showcase this historic brand of whisky, as well as celebrating the best of Scotland’s larder. A circular whisky bar is at the heart of the visitor centre, and there is also a deli which offers a range of locally-produced food, from savoury platters to sweet treats.

Celebrity chef Tony Singh attended the launch event on 6th July. He created a special pairing menu to complement The Singleton of Glen Ord Celebratory Bottling, available exclusively at the distillery.

Diageo also partnered with Euan’s Guide, a disabled access charity and website, to ensure the new Glen Ord visitor centre and tours are as accessible as possible.

Distillery tours available now

Whisky distillery tours are now available, offering an insight into the whisky-making process. Visitors will discover how The Singleton is produced from start to finish, and even get to sample three unique expressions at the end of the tour. Book here.

Diageo’s Four Corners of Scotland

The Glen Ord relaunch is part of Diageo’s huge investment of £185 million into whisky attractions around Scotland. The plan aims to transform four distilleries, Glenkinchie, Caol Ila, Clynelish and Cardhu, which represent the ‘four corners of Scotland’. It has also seen the introduction of a brand new whisky visitor experience in Edinburgh, Johnnie Walker Princes Street.
