A Tuscan Wine Tasting & Dining Experience with Biondi-Santi & Isole e Olena in Torrish, at Ness Walk

The light softens over the river, the candles are lit in Torrish, and two of Tuscany’s finest estates take their place at the table. Join us on Saturday 21st November at 6:30pm for a magnificent wine tasting experience followed by a wine-paired dinner, built around the wines of Biondi-Santi. This is the estate that gave the world Brunello di Montalcino and Isole e Olena, one of the great names of Chianti Classico.

The evening is hosted by Lorenzo Tonelli of Liberty Wines, whose approach to fine wine is as warm as it is knowledgeable. So, this is a rare chance to taste Tuscan wine of this calibre in the Highlands, in the surroundings of the five-star riverside hotel, Ness Walk.

Biondi-Santi

The Tuscan estate that gave birth to Brunello di Montalcino, bottling its first vintage in 1888. Moreover, for over a century, Biondi-Santi has crafted elegant, age-worthy Sangiovese defined by tradition and precision. So, these are wines that collectors return to again and again, and a fitting benchmark for the evening.

Isole e Olena

One of Chianti Classico’s most celebrated estates, known for wines of purity and real character. Tradition and innovation sit side by side, and its Sangiovese in particular has become a point of reference for modern Tuscan winemaking.

Five wines, two estates, and the chance to taste vintages side by side. The 2019 and 2021 Cepparello show how a single vineyard speaks differently from year to year. What’s more, three vintages of Brunello, spanning 2009 to 2020, trace how Biondi-Santi’s Sangiovese unfolds with age.

Lorenzo guides the room through each pour. This is a guided wine tasting for curious beginners and seasoned collectors alike. No knowledge is assumed, and no question is too simple. As a result, all you need to bring is your curiosity.

As evening settles over the garden, take a seat in Torrish for a menu created by our kitchen brigade, matched course by course with wines from both estates.

Dinner begins with Rare Champagne and closes with Vin Santo, and every course in between has been built around the wine beside it. Our chefs also work with the finest Scottish produce. So, Highland ingredients meet Tuscan classics at the table.

All in all, this is fine dining with wine pairing at its most enjoyable: unhurried, generous and designed to be shared. Torrish looks out over the gardens and the River Ness, too, making the setting every bit as memorable as the pairings.

Following the wine experience, the second day is then yours to enjoy at a slower pace. Jacobite Loch Ness cruises depart a short drive from the hotel, and your chauffeured transfer means you can step aboard and watch the Highlands drift past.
