Together, guests spend a relaxed few hours by the river, guided by a local florist who knows exactly how to turn seasonal flowers into a table you’ll be proud to host around. So whether you’re planning an intimate dinner or a full family gathering, you’ll leave with a centrepiece made entirely by your own hands.

Ultimately, go extravagant or pare back your design to suit your home’s aesthetic. It’s entirely your choice, but Lee will be on-hand to give you pointers as you need them.

To build the festive atmosphere and get you ready to create your Christmas table arrangement, the afternoon also includes a heavenly afternoon tea in our Torrish Restaurant.

Begin your afternoon in Torrish Restaurant, where you’ll enjoy a beautifully crafted festive afternoon tea, complete with seasonal treats and delights. Then, under the expert guidance of floral artist Lee, make your way to our Riverbank Room to create your own bespoke festive table arrangement.

Meet Lee, your floral artist

Guiding the workshop is Lee Mackay of Flowers by Lee, an independent Inverness florist with more than 20 years of experience. Lee founded her studio in 2005 after years working in busy Highland florists. And today, she designs, creates and delivers every piece personally, from bridal bouquets to grand venue installations. And of course, Christmas.

Her Christmas floral arrangements for table settings, weddings, and events combine the freshest seasonal flowers and foliage with a real love of the craft. And her relaxed, friendly guidance makes the workshop a joy whether you’re a complete beginner or a seasoned arranger. So, she’s the perfect guide for this unique event at Ness Walk Hotel.

What you’ll create and take home

Every guest designs and builds their own Christmas table arrangement during the session. As such, you’ll be working with seasonal blooms, rich winter foliage, and festive accents. Along the way, Lee shares the techniques professionals use, from balancing height and colour to keeping floral arrangements looking fresh right through to New Year.

You’ll also pick up simple festive table decor touches to dress the rest of your table around your centrepiece. And at the end of the afternoon, your finished arrangement comes home with you, ready for pride of place on the big day.

So, from full Xmas table dressing to a single striking centrepiece, you’ll leave knowing how to style whatever suits your home. And you’ll also have a fantastic day in five-star surroundings.
