Inverness – Itinerary One

Inverness City Centre & River Ness

This one-day itinerary focuses on Inverness city centre attractions, all located along the banks of the River Ness. The entire tour can be done on foot and is a great way to see some of the city’s highlights without travelling too far from the hotel.

Morning

Breakfast – After a great night’s sleep at Ness Walk Hotel, start the day with a delicious breakfast in Torrish Restaurant.

Stop 1 – From the hotel, take a walk along the banks of the River Ness towards Inverness Cathedral. This magnificent building is a wonderful place to explore on the first stop of this Inverness itinerary.

Stop 2 – Head over the Ness Bridge towards Inverness Museum and Art Gallery. A great introduction to the history and culture of the area, there is much to see at this fascinating city museum.

Stop 3 – Just a 2-minute walk from the museum is Inverness Castle. Perched high on a hilltop, you can’t miss it! Climb up to Inverness Castle Viewpoint for amazing 360° views of the city and beyond.

Afternoon

Lunch – Great places to eat nearby include Cafe 1, NAR Mediterranean and The Castle Tavern.

Stop 4 – From the castle, walk along Ness Bank to the Ness Islands. This collection of islands in the middle of the river are a peaceful retreat right in the middle of the city. Perfect for an afternoon walk, with magnificent scenery and abundant wildlife to enjoy.

Stop 5 – To extend your walk, head along to Inverness Botanic Gardens. The beautiful and tranquil gardens are awash with colour and texture. And Cafe Botanics is an excellent place to stop for refreshments.

Evening

Dinner – After all that exploring, you deserve a treat! So head back to Ness Walk Hotel for an exquisite dinner in Torrish Restaurant.

Stop 6 – If you’re looking for some evening entertainment, the wonderful Eden Court Theatre and Cinema is just a 5-minute walk around the corner. Take a look what’s on and book a show or a movie.
