Outdoor Pursuits in the Scottish Highlands

The Scottish Highlands is the idyllic setting for many outdoor pursuits. Skilled and knowledgeable locals are enthusiastic to share their passion and provide expertise should you require it. “Making it personal” is at the core of what we do at Ness Walk Hotel. And this mantra is never truer than when we create your outdoor experience in the Highlands. That’s what memories are made of!

Fishing

Whether you’re a skilled angler or seeking new outdoor activities, fishing the fresh rivers of Inverness and the Highlands is a truly magnificent addition to your fishing repertoire. Amidst spectacular scenery, cast your reel and try your luck at catching Atlantic Salmon, Wild Brown Trout or Pike.

Should you like to fish a little ‘closer to home’, we have the River Ness right on our doorstep. We will acquire you a day permit for this, so all you need to bring is your passion for the sport.

Shooting

The expansive landscapes of the Scottish Highlands create the perfect opportunity for testing your shot. From a relaxed afternoon clay pigeon shooting to the exhilarating adrenaline of game bird shooting, we will create an experience tailored to you. We recommend booking this in advance so we can source your pursuit from the best estates in the region.

Off-Road Driving

Take in the beautiful backdrops as you roam the endless moors and tracks in a 4×4. With help on hand from a qualified instructor, tackle the challenging climbs and descents, characteristic of the Scottish Highlands. This pursuit requires a full driving license to take part.

Horse Riding

Ride through the valley of the historic Loch Ness or amongst the flawless scenery of Glen Affric in the company of experienced trekking and trail riding instructors. Regardless of your ability, this pursuit offers the opportunity to be exposed to the natural beauty of the Scottish Highlands with your trusty 4-legged companion.

Other Pursuits

The beautiful Scottish Highlands is the perfect backdrop for a wide number of pursuits; rain and shine!  Popular activities include archery, falconry, guided walks and canoeing and kayaking – but have you ever considered white water sledging? Let us know in advance so we can organise your pursuits for you down to the finest of details.
