Ness Walk Weddings Q&As

These FAQs relate to exclusive-use weddings at Ness Walk Hotel, for celebrations of between 50 and 92 guests. However, we are also delighted to host non-exclusive weddings for smaller numbers. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.

General Questions

Is Ness Walk an exclusive use venue?

Ness Walk is a 5-star luxury venue, available to hire either for your wedding meal and evening only or on an exclusive use basis. Should you opt for exclusive use, you will be the only group using our venue and grounds for the duration of your stay and you will have full access to all function spaces and our 46 bedrooms.

How far in advance should we book an exclusive-use wedding?

It is best to plan as far in advance as you are able to, to arrange exclusivity of our venue. Speak to our team about your plans and let us come back with a proposal on suitable dates.

What is the maximum number of guests we can accommodate?

The venue can accommodate a maximum of 92 residential guests. An additional 28 evening guests can be accommodated with a maximum evening capacity of 120 guests on an exclusive use basis.

Is there a minimum spend or guest requirement for exclusive use?

We would be delighted to share a proposal with you for exclusivity on dates for your event – in this proposal, we will outline the accommodation charges and the costs for any food and beverage experiences for you and your guests. We will also detail any minimum requirements for dining in the hotel.

Venue & Accommodation

Do we need to take all the rooms?

All 46 rooms at Ness Walk are included as part of the exclusive use fee, and they are entirely yours to allocate as you wish. There’s no obligation to fill every room – whether you choose to occupy them all is up to you. We simply ensure the entire venue is reserved exclusively for you and your guests to enjoy in complete privacy.

How do guests book their rooms?

On an exclusive use basis, guests would not book the rooms directly with us. You will complete a bedroom allocation form provided by us. Should any of your guests wish to book additional evenings before or after your exclusive use, this would be arranged directly with us, subject to availability.

Do guests pay for their rooms?

If you want them to. Our venue hire fees include all 46 bedrooms so they are paid for as a part of your account. However, you can charge guests for their room if you wish – and you can decide how much to charge. This agreement is between you and your guests.

Do we have to take the 2-day package?

Ness Walk’s exclusive use is subject to a minimum stay of two nights – this would typically include the night prior and the night of your wedding celebrations. Weddings can be arranged on a non-exclusive basis which are not subject to a minimum length of stay.

Do you offer bridal suites or honeymoon accommodations?

Within the hotel, we offer two suites which offer the pinnacle of luxury in the city. Our Rowan Suite offers a spacious bedroom with skyline windows and a separate lounge and dining room, flooded with natural light. Our Wellingtonia Suite is our largest suite in the hotel, which offers over 90 sqm of space, skyline remote control windows and an open plan layout. Our Wellingtonia Suite also offers two bathrooms, including one accessible. In addition to the suites, our four Oak Rooms are superior rooms which offer floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking our courtyard and the River Ness.

Is there a dedicated space for ceremonies, receptions, and dancing?

Our Riverbank Room is at the heart of all celebrations, boasting floor-to-ceiling windows opening into our vibrant courtyard and your private space for your wedding breakfast and reception. While we aren’t able to offer ceremonies on site, there are a number of spectacular venues within walking distance on the Inverness riverside, including the Inverness Cathedral.

Can we host both the ceremony and reception at Ness Walk?

We recommend hosting your ceremony in one of the nearby riverside venues where all your residential guests can be accommodated. Our team will help recommend a truly special location for your vows. Picture your guests being piped along the riverside as you make your way back to your 5* exclusive wedding reception. Inverness Cathedral offers a dramatic backdrop to your day, just moments along the riverside. Ness Bank Church is another favourite, in an elevated spot on the east bank of the river. Inverness’s Town House offers a regal setting for your day with the most impressive of backdrops! And, the return to Ness Walk for your afternoon drinks reception will be even more exciting! Should you wish to hold your ceremony on-site, please let us know and we can inform you of capacities and considerations.

Is there an outdoor space available for photographs or drinks receptions?

Our Ness Walk lawns run down to the River Ness, offering the most spectacular of settings for afternoon drinks. The sheltered courtyard basks in afternoon sun, while firepits bring this space to life after sunset. During the day, we recommend you sneak away with your photographer to the Ness Islands for some couple photos – these parklands are accessible only on foot and a haven of tranquillity, just moments from the hotel along the riverside.

Catering & Dining

Do you offer bespoke wedding menus or tasting sessions?

Our seasonal menus offer a variety of incredible dishes utilising the best of local and fresh produce. If you are looking for a bespoke and personalised menu, our executive chef will work alongside you to create an unforgettable dining experience. In addition, before your special day, you will be invited to enjoy a complimentary menu tasting to ensure every dish is perfect for you.

Can we bring our own caterers, or is catering exclusively in-house?

No, we do not permit any external catering for weddings at Ness Walk. Our team of professionals will work with you to curate a menu and package to suit your preferences – from BBQ’s to seafood buffets, we can be creative to bring your vision to life!

Do you cater for dietary requirements and preferences?

We will cater for all dietary requirements and preferences accordingly to make sure everyone is well taken care of on your special day.

Can we provide our own alcohol, and is there a corkage fee?

Unfortunately as Ness Walk is a fully licensed venue, we do not permit alcohol to be sourced externally. For the avoidance of doubt, Ness Walk is not a self-catering venue and it is therefore not permitted to bring alcohol onto the premises which has not been purchased at Ness Walk. Kindly note that any guests attempting to bring alcohol onto the premises may be refused entry. We also do not offer corkage. There is a corkage fee of £2 per miniature if alcohol is being provided as a Wedding favour to guests.

Do you offer late-night food or next-day breakfast for guests staying overnight?

Our Wedding Package provides guests with a fantastic evening buffet to enjoy during the celebration. Breakfast is included for all guests staying at the Hotel.

Planning & Logistics

Do you provide a wedding coordinator to assist with planning?

Absolutely we do! We will help you from a venue provider perspective and provide you with our recommended supplier list, however, you are responsible for booking and paying for all your suppliers directly.

What is the timeline for setup and decoration?

For exclusive use bookings, access is granted from 3pm the day prior to the Wedding for setup and to decorate all spaces. Any items remaining overnight will be stored safely and ready to collect on departure the following day.

Do you have a list of recommended vendors (florists, photographers, entertainment, etc.)?

Your designated Wedding coordinator will share with you any recommendations for vendors and suppliers that you may need. We are lucky to have a wealth of talented and trusted Wedding suppliers here in the Inverness area and we champion supporting local businesses.

Are fireworks, sparklers, or confetti allowed on the property?

Confetti is permitted at the property so long as it is of a biodegradable, animal and plant-friendly variety. Sparklers are also permitted and we will provide sand buckets to safely dispose of these at the property. Due to the central and residential location of the hotel, we regret that fireworks are not permitted on-site.

What time does the reception need to end, and are there noise restrictions?

For an exclusive use booking, live music is permitted until 1 am. There is a sound limitation of 95 decibels for bands, live music and discos. Our music equipment will cut out if the sound is over this limit to ensure a comfortable volume for you and your guests, and nearby residents.

Is there parking available for guests, and do you offer valet services?

Parking on-site is limited to residents only and is chargeable at £20 per car per day. This can be added at the time of booking by our reservations team.

Costs & Policies

What is included in the exclusive use package?

The price quoted includes the reservation of all of our 47 rooms and suites on a bed and breakfast basis. This will also include full access to our Riverbank Room, including our wedding package for up to 100 guests. You will also have access to our Torrish Restaurant and Whisky Bar throughout your stay, with any drinks and meals outwith the wedding breakfast chargeable. A minimum length of stay of 2 nights applies.

What are the payment terms and cancellation policies?

A deposit of 20% of the exclusive use venue fee is required to confirm exclusivity on your chosen date. A further deposit of 40% of the estimated wedding costs is due 12 weeks prior to your big day, with the final payment of the remaining 40% due 6 weeks prior to the wedding date. Should you decide to cancel, all payments made are non-refundable and we strongly suggest that you consider a wedding insurance policy, to cover you and your loved ones for any eventuality.

Are there any hidden fees or additional charges to be aware of?

Our exclusive use venue hire fees clearly note what is included in your package – but will include accommodation across 46 bedrooms on a bed & breakfast basis and the use of our restaurant, bar and event spaces. All drinks and catering for your guests is then chargeable in addition to the venue hire. Exclusive use weddings are subject to a minimum stay of two nights. Venue hire does not include any food or beverage provision. External vendors for catering and beverages are not permitted.

Do you offer flexible packages for intimate weddings or elopements?

Exclusivity at Ness Walk includes all 46 bedrooms so is designed for celebrations of between 50 and 92 guests, however, we are delighted to tailor a bespoke package for elopements. We can connect you with picturesque elopement locations and return to a stunning wedding lunch in Torrish with your nearest and dearest.
